2025 marks the arrival of another brand to our Kiwi shores! Chery, a brand known for innovation and affordability, has officially arrived in New Zealand. The brand’s entry into our market is a major step in its international growth strategy, bringing a new range of vehicles that aim to bring smart technology and advanced safety at a standout value.

With over two decades of experience and a footprint in all corners of the globe, Chery is no newcomer to the global automotive scene – they have been around in my home country of Brazil for ages, and I remember they arrived with a bang. Now, they’re setting their sights on New Zealand drivers, with vehicles designed to suit local preferences, lifestyles, and expectations.

“We’re excited to launch in New Zealand and introduce our latest generation of vehicles to the local market,” said Lewis Lu, CEO of Chery Australia and New Zealand. “Kiwis are discerning drivers who appreciate quality and innovation, and we believe our line-up will deliver on both, alongside outstanding value.”

As part of this launch exercise, Chery will establish a network of10 dealerships across the country, providing customers with both sales and aftersales support. Each dealership will offer a full-service experience, from test drives and purchases to maintenance and servicing, ensuring a smooth and dependable ownership journey.
A highlight of Chery’s local introduction is the rollout of itsSuper Hybrid systemacross select models. Mixing the practicality of a petrol engine with the efficiency of electric power, Chery wants to signal their commitment to sustainability while also offering low emissions, long-range driving, and seamless performance.

Established in 1997, Chery is a global automotive manufacturer with operations in over 80 countries. The company remains committed to future thinking and customer satisfaction, continually pushing boundaries in the global car industry. The ten chosen locations for their dealerships are: Whangarei, Auckland (North, Central and South), Pukekohe, Hamilton, Tauranga, Taupo, Lower Hutt and Christchurch.
